The following briefly summarizes current fishing trends in our area:

  • Lake Lavon - White Bass reports are slowing down, so not able to get a read on the bite. But, it looks like Crappie is the way to go! Brush piles and the right depth are key. That said, strongly recommend using a fish finder to locate them!

  • Blue River (OK) - Last report noted, "Spotted and smallmouth bass fishing is pretty good right now. Shallow diving crankbaits and top waters are catching fish. Remember that the minimum length limit is 14" on all bass and that of the combined 6 fish bass limit only 1 may be a smallmouth." For the latest info on the Blue River, do give Scotty a ring at Scotty's Blue River One Stop - (580) 371-9288.

  • Possum Kingdom - Bite seems to be consistent for some.  Do check out the recent video posted by a fisherman using a pocket fisherman in the sidebar!
  • Denison Dam - Still digging around for reports and updates. Did find another recent video of one fish being caught! Looks like a nice Striped Bass between generations!
  • Community Lakes and Ponds - Water levels seem to be back up in local ponds with the recent rains! Fish are being caught, do focus on the shallows as it gets dark.
  • El Pollo Loco - Grand Opening Wednesday! Made a lunch run and guess what... it still tastes as good as when we tried it when in California! Do give the flame grilled chicken a try!

El Pollo Loco opened in Allen Wednesday! Do stop by if you are in the area... even better, you can stop at the local Cabelas after eating!

Possum Kingdom stays on our radar, especially with a fisherman using a Pocket Fisherman!

Denison Dam ... video of interest that shows one fisherman hooking into a nice Striped Bass! Looks like while the power plant was generating, fishing from the Texas side on the bank with a topwater lure!

Bruiser Bluegill posted on the Fishing Bulletin Board caught August 2016!

TBT picture of a Bluegill!

Repeat: Don't Forget the Lower Illinois River for Rainbow Trout ... last  edition, we reminded Readers not to forget about fishing this area. This time, we repeat it again and further reinforce it with a video posted by a fisherrman catching trout as recent as 19 August!
