The following briefly summarizes current fishing trends in our area:

  • Lake Lavon - Recent reports indicate the White Bass action is good on wind blown points as well as the tailrace! When fishing points, have seen schools of shad coming in shallow, followed soon after by feeding White Bass!

  • Blue River (OK) - With recent rains, reports indicate water clarity is low. No reports as of yet, but continue to keep in mind that nice "eating-sized" catfish are being stocked by ODFC!

  • Possum Kingdom - Spotty reports are coming in with Striped Bass being caught at the tailrace and the main lake itself.

  • Denison Dam - Still tough finding a block of time to wade fish the river, but others are having success fishing for them in the strong flow with surfcasting gear!

  • Community Lakes and Ponds - Bluegill and Sunfish bite remains consistent. Bass are prowling the banks chasing baitfish, especially with high water levels from recent rain! Do keep an eye out for the latest pictures on the Fishing Bulletin Board!

  • Tenkara Flies- Keep this simple pattern in mind and your fly box! So far, the olive/white and orange/white tenkara flies have been doing well on Bluegill and Sunfish as well as an occasional Bass!

Fly Tying Demo of the Sabiki Fly that the Team has been using for White Bass on our local lake. Simple pattern made with a hook, monofilament line, and mylar from food wrappers - so far we have use Fritos and Bevita wrappers as well as a mylar balloon! Have had multiple hookups when White Bass are feeding on shad near wind blown points!

Kayak Fishing videos from 30milesOutWhite! Do check out fishing videos posted by Ty Southerland. We have been following him on ouTube and have enjoyed the fishing and learned a lot about fishing from a kayak! Recently moving from Rockport, Texas to Pensacalo, Florida, we anticipate more videos in the near future!
