The following briefly summarizes current fishing trends in our area:

  • Lake Lavon - It looks like the bite remains steady for Crappie and Catfish. White Bass reports are coming in with good results where schools of shad can be found. If bank fishing, windy points seem to do best for fishing action. Crappie are favoring submerged structure in 6'-16' of water; minnows and crappie jigs remain key. For Catfish, it looks like boat and bank fishermen are doing well with some nice catches reported since the last iFishnNews edition.

  • Blue River (OK) - Reports are spotty. Seems like fishermen are holding for the Trout Stockings to begin in November. That said, we did find a great video taken from a drone flying around the area this past week. Great footage of the river and potential fish holding locations!  Check out the video in the upper sidebar!  For the latest info on the Blue River, do give Scotty a ring at Scotty's Blue River One Stop - (580) 371-9288.

  • Possum Kingdom - Reports are slow in coming but we did find a video posted by one fisherman catching Stripers in a kayak downriver from the tailrace. Video is mainly grip and grin shots of fish but the key takeaway - there are Stripers being caught!  Check out the video in the lower sidebar.
  • Denison Dam - As reports have been hit or miss for Denison Dam, the Field Team made two runs to Denison since the last iFishNews edition. Taking advantage of the breaks in generation, the Team was able to catch a few Striped Bass. The Striped Bass seem to be keying on "bait balls" of Shad being washed downriver! See the video posted in the Videos of Interest section below.
  • Community Lakes and Ponds - Over the last few weeks, we have seen several reports of nice size Bass being caught. With a cool front forecasted this weekend, may need to try weightless, Texas-rigged Senkos for a go at some Bass!
  • Live Stream Beta Test - After several starts and stops, the Field Team successfully hosted a YouTube Live Stream Session yesterday! We even had a couple of Viewers join live for a little Q&A. Do stay tuned for future Live Stream Sessions!

Live Stream Beta Test was a success. Finally able to maintain connectivity and host a Q&A Session with our Readers. Only two joined us this round, but it was great start!

Blue River in Oklahoma has always been a favorite trout fishing destination for the Field Team. Although stockings don't begin again until November, we think this video taken from a drone last week may prove useful. We see some really nice looking fishing spots!

Possum Kingdom ... video that shows one fisherman having a great time "gripping and grinning" with Striped Bass! Key takeaway: There are fish to be caught in the tailrace!

Striped Bass posted on the Fishing Bulletin Board and caught September 3, 2016!

Denison Dam Striped Bass

Denison Dam Tailrace ... below is last week's trip to Denison Dam where we fished the tailrace and caught  little Stripers and one Keeper! Had a great time working fishing flies with the 6wt Switch Rod!
