More Fishing Fun!

Happy Valentine's Day to our Readers. This edition we added videos of the White Bass action posted by Texas fisherman. The recent rains may have things confused, but as soon as the rain lets up, we are certain more trout reports will be forthcoming! Also, don't forget about the trout action in Oklahoma - specifically, the Lower Illinois, Lower Mountain Fork, and Blue Rivers!

Fly Tying Suggestions

******************************************************

Near Deere Variant ...is tied using the same material as the Olive Near Deere but uses one black marabou plume and no chenille. Instead, the marabou plume is used in place of the chenille. The pattern works for stocker trout in our area, and skipping the chenille makes for a quicker tie. Do check out the steps on how to tie the Black Near Deere Variant at StockerTroutFishing.com!

Rainbow Midge by Turning Stones Fly Fishing is a pattern to keep in your backpocket. It's simpler and faster to tie than the Rainbow Warrior. And, so far, it seems just as effective on trout! For more details on tying this pattern, check the YouTube video by Turning Stones Fly Fishing!

Upcoming Fly Fishing Events in March!

******************************************************

TRWD Fly Fest  is happening again this year on the banks of the Trinity River in Fort Worth.

Last year was a great time with fishing presentations, fly tying demonstrations, fly casting instruction and much more!

Throw in some Bruiser Trout and a fishing contest and add live music, wine and beer, and it's a party!

Keep this one in mind knowing there are two other events happening Saturday - March 11!

For more info, go to trwdflyfest.com!
PS: It's free, just come and enjoy the fun!

Fly Fish Texas hosted by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is another fishing event happening Saturday March 11!

It's in Athens at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center. It's a gathering of fishing experts and novices as well as fishing clubs and vendors.

Learn more about fly fishing and even give it a try at the casting pond stocked with trout!

For more details, go to Special Events on the TPWD's webpage.

Also, do check out Fish Tales' video from last year's Fly Fish Texas!

Texas Fly Fish and Brew Festival... combines fly fishing and micro-brews into a two day event!

It's the third fishing event happening on Saturday March 11 in the area but luckily it runs two days.

So, Sunday March 12 is wide open for those who attended TRWD Fly Fest or Fly Fish Texas.
